A new boutique VFX studio, Rebellion, has launched in Venice, CA. The newly formed company is co-founded by VFX supervisor Jake Maymudes and CG supervisor Carl Harders.
Maymudes, a former VFX supervisor at The Mill and Industrial Light & Magic artist, has been recruited to create and oversee more than 500 VFX shots for action/comedy feature Airplane Mode. Harders, who also previously worked with The Mill, will oversee the Rebellion team, aptly dubbed the “Rebel Artists,” alongside veteran VFX producer Kellie Iranon.
Airplane Mode was written by and stars social media and Gen-Z Influencer Logan Paul along with fellow influencers Juanpa, Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, Amanda Cerny, Lele Pons, Roman Atwood and Brittany Furlan, amongs many others whose collective social media following has reach to more than 100 million people.
Rebellion, a visual effects company now only 12 months old, has also tackled numerous other high profile projects in their first year. The studio has provided VFX for the award-winning feature Everest, Marc Forster’s soon to be released All I See Is You, Spike Jonze’s short film for fashion brand Kenzo, and many other commercial projects with clients including Lenovo, Bosch, Meow Mix, Dodge and Bud Lite.
Maymudes’ strong relationships with high profile agencies like, The Escape Pod, FCB Draft, 72 & Sunny and many others have already garnered a full slate of upcoming projects for 2017, including a secret Super Bowl spot going into post production early January.
